CHILD CURIOSITY

Do you like to spend time with children? If yes, what you have learnt about them? We all know they are angels on the earth. If you love them they will reciprocate happiness to you.

Spending at least an hour with the children I learned that they always ask right questions. They are naturally curious to learn about things around them. Most of the time I feel helpless in answering them and the questions they often ask beget more questions or a series of questions.

This evening, I was playing (like her, on her instruction) with a three and half year old girl. Her questions were like these:

a. Why the sky is blue?
b. Why don't you stay at our home?
c. From where the water falls when it rains?
 d. Where do the stars hide during daytime?
 e. Why can't we see things in darkness?
 f. What is family? etc etc.

Sometimes we have answers to their questions, sometime we don't bother to answer them and sometimes we don't have answers to their questions.

Hope,  we often confront such situations. In my context I often try end their curiosity but if it becomes out of capacity I try circumvent them to other things.

Please let us know what you do in such situations.

LET ALL CHILDREN BE IN SCHOOLS IN THIS POST- LOCKDOWN PERIOD

Fortunately, children are going to school again. Some are in a regular way and some others are on every alternate day. But the worrying fact is that many other children are still away from school. When I met some parents of such students, their answers were were almost similar, “We are going through a very difficult time, its very hard to afford the uniforms and also unable to pay the monthly fees which has not been paid for months.” When I talked to the parents I noticed the plights that they have been undergoing.

The lockdown, which was imposed countrywide in India for a long period of time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, snatched away livelihood of many families across the country. The Covid-19, a major cause of global economic slowdown also severely impacted on children education and learnings.

The education system had been jeopardized with the lockdown announced in India towards the end of March, 2019. Although schools resumed recently under some Covid protocols, many children are still out of school.
Childhood is the most important period of learning as the children have innate quality to learn. But if there were no schooling for the children of uneducated parents or guardians, how they could learn. In some cases many children, whose ages around 8-year still struggling with their primer chanting ba, bi, bu, be…. The first step of learning for life has been missed which is very difficult to recuperate in the entire lifetime.

Social distancing or stay at home also affected the children in rural and urban areas differently. Children have the right to play but they could not in the entire period of lockdown. By playing games, children learns many crucial things. It also helps them in physical and mental growth. Children also need other recreational activities. But all these were snapped for children in this period.

Hope, may God help in ending the pandemic! No………Delta, no Omicron, no any lethal variant. Let all be over soon.

CHILDREN LOVE TO PLAY WITH BIRDS AND ANIMALS
